A Taste of Brazil
Poetry & Photography by David Messineo

A seven-week journey across Brazil in 2005 inspires a 2006 chapbook of 21 new poems and 25 stunning full-color photographs

David Messineo launches his 25th year of public poetry performance on Friday evening, February 24, 2006, when he debuts his fifth poetry collection, A Taste of Brazil, at Cafe Local in Englewood, New Jersey.  Double-click the thumbnails above for larger versions of the front and back covers.

A Taste of Brazil sells for $15/copy - only $3 more than his 1994 A Taste of Italy, printed in a similar format over a decade ago.

Readers can expect 21 poems inspired by his travels in Brazil, along with 26 stunning reproductions of full-color photographs taken throughout Brazil.  Sensational full color reproduction has been a hallmark of various Sensations Magazine and Snake Hill Press offerings, and this book will use the latest technological advances in inexpensive color reproduction.

A Taste of Brazil includes poems inspired by the author's experiences in the Amazon cities of Manaus, Maues, and Presidente Figueiredo; Rio de Janeiro; the Sun Coast city of Buzios; and on his return to America.

A Taste of Brazil is available through Snake Hill Press and online orders through this website; and available in select Brazilian specialty shops. In Sussex County, NJ, you can purchase A Taste of Brazil at Olde Village Book Cellar at Olde Lafayette Village.

"I don’t know which I enjoyed more, the stunning color photography or the warm details of family, places, and events in Brazil. Having read many of David’s poems in the past and reviewed his book Restoration, I was so impressed with the emotion, caring, and details in many of these poems. I felt like I was on the red beach, caught in a sudden storm, stretching and hopping at an afternoon concert, gliding through hills on a night tour. Truly, a book about love and loving people."
