Snake Hill Press

Snake Hill Press is the poetry book publishing house for poet/performance artist David Messineo.  Six of his poetry collections have been printed and released through Snake Hill Press between 1995 and 2006:

First Impressions (ISBN 0-9676066-0-6) .  Published 2002.
50 pages, softcover, full color front and back covers, 150-copy print run.
Poems from ages 9-18, including all poems written at Passaic Valley High School.  The First Edition of First Impressions is sold out.

Suburban Gothic (ISBN 0-9676066-2-4) .  Published 1999.
264 pages, softcover, full color front and back cover, 600-copy print run.
Poems from ages 18-31, including most poems written at Fordham University and up to 1994.  The First Edition of Suburban Gothic is now rare and out-of-print.  Click "Join" and "Suburban Gothic" for stores which have the last 50 copies available for public purchase.

A Taste of Italy (ISBN 0-9676066-3-2).  Published 1995.
28 pages, softcover, full color throughout, 150-copy print run.
Poems written on a trip to Italy during the Summer of 1994.  The First Edition of A Taste of Italy is sold out.

Restoration (ISBN 0-9676066-4-0) .  Published 2002.
200 pages, hardcover, gold leaf on front cover and spine, 100-copy run.
Poems written from ages 32 to 40, from 1995-2002.  Contains the majority of the poet's best-known "public performance" pieces, and his most controversial and compelling works to date.  Inspiration for poems ranges from American prejudice and injustice to the events of September 11th, covering an arc of time from 1975 to 2002 in a unique "time travel" style. 48 pages, softcover, full color throughout, 100-copy run.
Poems written on a seven week trip to Brazil, August to October 2005.  The First Edition of A Taste of Brazil will be available for public purchase after February 24, 2006.

Formal (ISBN 0-9676066-6-x) .  Published 2006.
120 pages, hardcover, 275-copy run.
Mr. Messineo's sixth collection, Formal, will be the definitive collection of his varied form-oriented poetry:  pantoums, sestinas, sonnets, villanelles, etc.  Formal was published in 2006 - an accompanying Silver Anniversary Tour, to celebrate his 25th anniversary of public poetry performance, is fortcoming throughout 2006 and 2007.

Historiopticon (ISBN f0-9676066-7-x).  Forthcoming 2013.
Hardcover or softcover (TBD).
Mr. Messineo's seventh collection, Historiopticon, will be the definitive collection of his poetry based on American history themes.  The first poems for this collection were written in 1996.  Mr. Messineo anticipates a 15-year construction period, and book publication date circa 2013.

 

From 1995-2005,  a total of only 1000 books originally printed - now all either sold out, rare, or out-of-print. In 2006, an additional 275 books were printed, and are now

available for purchase.
