The Six Centuries Club - 2008 Advertising Rates
During May 2008, The Six Centuries Club will begin
accepting ads for its third and final Lafayette Township Heritage Research
Series Program (Part 3 of 3), to be handed out for free at events to be held
on Sunday June 8, 2008. The advertising portion of that program will
also be distributed at a second event to be held on Sunday September 21,
2008. Total distribution: 200 copies.
Rates below are
based on an 8-1/2 x 11 page size, 8x10 image size. Ad rates (all for
full-color reproduction, all including required 7% NJ sales tax on
advertising) are as follows:
 | $107.00 - Standard business card size |
 | $122.00 - Full-color "wallet-size photo" |
 | $214.00 - Double business card size |
 | $249.10 - Full business card + 1 "wallet" photo
(minimum rate recommended for restaurants and business who wish to show,
in full-color, interior or exterior space) |
 | $267.50 - 1/4 Page (contact for dimensions) |
 | $535.00 - 1/2 Page (contact for dimensions) |
 | $1070.00 - Full Page (contact for dimensions) |
Additional points to consider:
 | I personally do all full-color copy work required to
create these programs, and have 20+ years experience in calibrating color
on the machinery. |
 | Not only does your purchase help support the arts in
New Jersey, you know from the rates above that these are about the least
expensive full-color ad rates you'll find - a low-cost risk, at a time of
downturn in the economy when it's difficult to afford to advertise, yet
you know you have to in order to draw people in. |
 | From having done this twice before in Sussex County, we
are very comfortable we will be able to get enough attendees to
these free events to distribute all books, and know from past experience
that they take them home as souvenirs, since the books also contain
history research. |
 | At the events, I also standardly thank the advertisers
publicly for helping to fund the event, and I tell people to please use
this program as your resource for interesting businesses in the area.
|
 | My goal is to be a conduit, creating a symbiotic
relationship between support the arts and supporting local businesses. |
These ad rates also include the following benefits
to you, at no extra charge:
 | Advertisers will be considered members of The Six
Centuries Club at the Magazine + Events level, will be invited to in-house
events in 2008, and will receive copies of Issue 43 (Spring/Summer 2008)
and 44 (Fall/Winter 2008)
|
 | AND A SPECIAL BONUS: Advertisers will have the opportunity to have an
initial one hour massage therapy session at the discount rate of $53.50 at
Uirapuru, the new Brazilian massage therapy practice operated by an
individual originally from the Amazon rainforest region of Brazil.
Massage must be booked on available dates. Business expected to open
in mid-May 2008. Offer good only before
June 27, 2008. |

color printout of your larger-sized ad (no electronic files), along with

Our View: The Ideal Member
Who is the ideal member? Some of our thoughts:
 | People who aren't necessarily intellectual, but who
want to learn more about American and local history. |
 | People who are historians, and who are actively
involved in other historical or historic preservation societies, are bound
to enjoy our historical programming. |
 | People who enjoy listening to poetry, and hearing
lectures about American history. |
 | People who simply want to hang out in Lafayette and
socialize with a small group, after the stores close. |
 | Poets, singer/guitarists, and others who enjoy
performing for the public in an intimate atmosphere, where you can hear
the work, rather than hear the crying children, cash registers, steamed
milk machines, or other "background noise" typical of the New Jersey
poetry scene. |
 | People who are tolerant and comfortable with people of
all religions, races, and sexual orientations. |
You'll feel comfortable here if you fit these specifics:
 | Sussex County Mom or Dad who loves their kids, but who
need an inexpensive "night out" with other adults, 4-6 times a year - not
a late night, nor a long drive. |
 | Teenager, 20-something, 30-something, or 40-something
who takes part in various cultural activities along the Route 15 "arts
bridge" running from Milford in the north to Jefferson Township in the
south. (Children under 16 only invited when accompanied by an adult.
Children are expected to listen quietly and attentively to all programs.) |
 | Seniors who want to get out of the house, yet not
travel far. (Please note we have only one bathroom, on a upper
floor, so you must be able to ascend stairs.) |
 | People who own and love historic homes, and enjoy the
ambience of a historic home. |
 | People who wish to have more interaction with those
outside their age group. Age ranges of current Six Centuries Club
members run from 20 to 86. |
 | People who contribute time and energy to other
organizations, but feel their efforts aren't as strongly appreciated as
they should be. |
 | People who are immigrants who have a good understanding
of the English language, and who want to learn more about American culture
and history. (While we welcome people who are learning English as a
second language, we honestly feel you would have difficulty understanding
the history lectures or poetry readings if you do not have a good grasp of
English.) |
 | Gay and lesbian individuals and couples who feel less
than welcome elsewhere are fully welcomed here. (And if you're
bigoted, prejudiced, or otherwise narrow-minded, and wish to stay that
way, trust me - we're not the club for you.) |
 | Individuals who are both religious and tolerant of
others are welcomed. Part of our programming will examine the
cultural impacts of the Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches in
Lafayette, going back to the 1700s and 1800s, which will be of great
interest to those who want to gain some insights into local church
history. |
 | People who must attend nonsmoking events. |
 | Note to handicapped people: as part of our annual
programming, we try to have at least one or two events in a location that
is handicap-friendly. Let us know, in detail, your situation, and
we'll try to find ways to accommodate you. |
Finally, here's where it gets interesting. Events
at The Six Centuries Club Research Room in Lafayette are capped to 20
participants. Join soon if you want to be part of the downtown
excitement.
In certain cases, we can repeat programming for private
groups. If you represent a group of 20, please contact us with
details at the P.O. box below, so we can try to get onto your group's social
calendar.
2008 GOAL: We are seeking a full total of 100
"magazine only" members, and 20 "magazine + events" members, and especially
are seeking individuals who are interested in spending some social time in Lafayette, NJ. We already
have members, so join soon if you want to be among the 20 "special invitees"
to our events.
