What is The Six Centuries Club of America, Inc.

The Six Centuries Club of America, Inc. is a privately held S corporation:  a hybrid of a historical society, poetry club, and community improvement association.  We focus on American history from the years 1500 (the "pre-United States days") to 2100 ("the promise of the future").

As of January 1, 2007, The Six Centuries Club is the parent company for Sensations Magazine--the award-winning literary magazine that has operated independently for 20 years, and which will focus its poets and fiction writers on the challenges of writing on themes related to American history, during its final years.

Where Your Money Goes:  Annual Operating Costs

Through a combination of item purchases, subscriptions, and contest entry fees, our goal is to raise enough income to meet our expenses, not make a profit.  Our approximate annual expenses include business taxes and accounting fees ($2,000), annual website costs ($150), annual Internet access for history research and email access for subscriber convenience ($400), annual liability insurance ($500), annual magazine production and shipping costs ($3,500), supplying of free issues for indexing organizations ($100), and supplies for community improvement projects ($350).  $7,000 in annual costs divided by 100 subscribers = $70 per subscriber, per year.  But it doesn't quite work that way.

To make the enterprise affordable to the average individual, our lowest annual membership rate for 2007 is $24, not $70.  Which means we need to not only have individuals at the $24 rate, but several at the $100 and up level, every year, simply to break even financially.

In short, given the basic math, only an idiot would believe that we are profiting on writers, or individuals.  And yes, there are a few idiots floating around on the Internet, and in small towns across America.

The Six Centuries Club of America, Inc. does not have any paid staff.  We do pay an accountant, who is the ONLY individual that remotely could be perceived as making ANY income on this enterprise.

Our goal is not simply to publish writers in a nicely published magazine - we aim to have a major, positive impact in the look and feel of downtown Lafayette, NJ:  especially in 2007, the 250th anniversary of the birth of the town's namesake.  Our goals are timely, ambitious, and worthwhile; we hope you will support them.  Your financial support level, and interest in volunteering services, will directly aid, or limit, how many of our goals we can achieve.

Summation:  Twenty Years Plus - Thanks to You!

For 20 years, Sensations Magazine has not only offered publishing opportunities to poets and writers - but has been a force for positive social change, by actively fundraising for various worthy causes at various times during its history.  During the past ten years, Sensations Magazine supporters have, at our request, joined together to raise funds for close to 20 other organizations, including Spring Street Dance Studio, Southern Poverty Law Center, Hyacinth Foundation, New Jersey Buddies, Arts Coalition of Asbury Park (ARTSCAP), Asbury Park Historical Society, Black Box Theater, Core of Hope, The Center in Asbury Park, The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation, Surfrider Foundation of Monmouth County, the Velie Memorial Fund, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and more.  Help us continue our history of generosity, and bring that to a new region:  Sussex County, New Jersey.
