2002
Keeping momentum going after a
national tragedy . . .
As America continued to reel from the aftereffects of
September 11, 2001, we agreed with the public figures who encouraged us to go on
with our daily lives. In 2002, Sensations Magazine released four
issues, and Snake Hill Press released two books. Publisher David Messineo
addressed September 11th in Restoration, his fourth poetry collection, and Sensations Magazine
decided to tackle that topic in September 2003, after two years had passed, in a
two-part issue on the theme of "America at War" (hardly expecting American would
be at war at that time).
Here are some highlights from 2002:

Spring 2002 "People" issue, featuring cover photography
by Christopher Coppola |

Summer 2002 "History" issue,

... and publishing two new poetry collections "in the aftermath of American
pain"
Continuing the process of releasing his poetry books akin
to a "Star Wars" episodic release, David Messineo debuts two new poetry
books at the end of 2002.
First Impressions (Episode 1) contains material
written between the ages of 9 and 18 - the prequel to Suburban Gothic
(Episode 2, released in 1999). Restoration (Episode 4) contains
material written between 1995 and 2002 - the sequel to A Taste of Italy
(Episode 3, released in 1994).
Restoration (Episode 4) contains 131 pieces, on 200 pages of
acid-free paper: a hardcover poetry book with gold leaf on the front
cover and spine, published and scored in a book binding process harking to
the days of fine library-quality volumes. The First Edition is a print
run of 100 copies, only 15 of which remain as of this writing. Go to
the "Purchase Items" button, then the "Restoration" button, for available
locations.
Together, the four books published by Snake Hill Press
offer 3/4 of the lifetime poetic output of David Messineo - "undiscovered,"
yet well-known in local literary circles. His lifetime goal is to have
99% of his poetry published in book form.
